Hi, friends and welcome to our blog!
We’re Adam and Tina DaSilva, parents of two adorable kiddos who also have multiple food allergies.
In this blog you’ll find – what we hope – are easy, healthy and allergy-friendly recipes that will make your family and friends smile as much as ours do. We wanted to start this blog after repeatedly hearing our family and friends say, “how did you make that,” or “oh my gosh that doesn’t have dairy?”
We also have to admit that we are not chefs. We’re never went to culinary school, but we do have a passion for cooking. We’re both working parents (with not a lot of free time), who have two adorable healthy, awesome kids with multiple, severe food allergies.
When our son was diagnosed with food allergies in 2015 at six months, our world was turned upside down. He had several serious reactions to new foods over the course of the next few years and as a result, we turned to cooking everything from scratch. We welcomed our daughter in 2017, who also has multiple food allergies.
Allergies suck. They are scary. They are unfair. They can make life tough. They make the simplest things – like going out of the house – with your kiddos in tow – a production. But, as in everything in life….there is an upside (and we all pray for a cure) and so much life to live and food to eat, even with food allergies.
Throughout these past five years, we’ve learned to cook a wide range of delicious meals, cakes, dinners, snacks and appetizers from scratch. We’ve learned about substitutions, we’ve learned how to keep our meals healthy (ish), and we’ve learned to do it with many food restrictions and not a lot of time.
